Gun Control, Gabby Giffords, and Facts: How to offend liberals.

Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelley testifying before Congress

From the Slate:

But the big problem with the mocking argument put forth by Breitbart and the NRA (which did not return a call seeking comment) is that it misses the entire point of Giffords’ advocacy. She is not devoting herself to the cause of expanding background checks because that measure would have stopped Loughner, but because that measure is the one that police and criminal justice experts believe would have the biggest impact on reducing gun violence overall. The same was true of the families of the victims in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre: Universal background checks would not have stopped Adam Lanza, who got his guns from his mother, but the families wanted to push for whatever reform would limit shooting deaths, period. Making it harder for people with criminal records, histories of domestic violence, and adjudications for mental illness to obtain guns is one of the best measures at our disposal to do so.

Leftist Techies and the “It’s just an email server. Big deal!”

hillary-emailI was reading the twitterz today and was surprised by some of the people in my feed, who “claim” to have some experience in IT, try to explain away that Hillary having an email server was not a big deal.  In fact, one person was a little taken aback that a reporter thought having an email server in her own home was a big deal.

Incredibly, he called the entire thing bogus because the reporter was technically ignorant.  His followers were quick to give him quite the backslap.

Hillary’s Email Conundrum: When the Press can’t save you.

hillary_ClintonHillary Clinton’s email problems from the NY Times article caused several media supporters to come rushing to her aid by attempting to paint Republicans as also using private email addresses in an effort to temper, and perhaps kill the obvious issue.

Their efforts to demonstrate hypocrisy on the right was ground to a halt when Fox News showed video of a July 2007 speech in which she called out the Bush administration for using private email accounts as part of a larger “cronyism and corruption” scheme to obscure the public on its war efforts.

Obama Granted 100,000 Illegals Work Permits Before Court Injunction

illegalsFrom Breitbart News:

“Specifically, between November 24, 2014 and the issuance of the Court’s Order, USCIS granted three-year periods of deferred action to approximately 100,000 individuals who had requested deferred action under the original 2012 DACA guidelines (and were otherwise determined to warrant such relief), including the issuance of three-year EADs for those 2012 DACA recipients who were eligible for renewal,” the administration explains. “These pre-injunction grants of three-year periods of deferred action to those already eligible for 2012 DACA were consistent with the terms of the November Guidance.”

Not sure how this will play out in the Court’s understanding of facts when issuing the injunction and the subsequent decision to accept or deny the government’s motion to stay, and may be a moot point considering DACA has been available since 2012.  However, what is interesting is that the Justice Department never presented this in any filings and are just now doing so.

The Justice Department in the last few years has had a miserable record of malfeasance in litigation, including FOIA requests, New Orleans Katrina prosecutions, and various other misconduct.  It seems as though the President’s lawlessness and unprofessional antics of his legal department continues unabated in its desire to bring immigration reform to cement a dreadful legacy.

Boehner’s Lip Service and Cowardice

John_Boehner

“I don’t know where my backbone is.”

With the exception of the whining liberals, most people who watched Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress came away with a few observations, chief among them was how passionate the Prime Minister was to his love of country, and his belief in the threat posed to his people.

Even in the face of the political backlash from his own constituents, he stood strong and delivered an eloquent speech that sharply contrasts with the Administration’s direction on how to deal with Iran. Continue reading

Can’t Make This Up: DEA says Utah will have stoned rabbits if it passes Medical Marijuana

facepalmAre stoned rabbits a big problem elsewhere?

From the Washington Post:

Utah is considering a bill that would allow patients with certain debilitating conditions to be treated with edible forms of marijuana. If the bill passes, the state’s wildlife may “cultivate a taste” for the plant, lose their fear of humans, and basically be high all the time. That’s according to testimony presented to a Utah Senate panel (time stamp 58:00) last week by an agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Question:  Can you get a secondary high if you cook a stoned rabbit in a smoker?
