In 1992, a crate containing some 29,000 rubber ducks, frogs, turtles and beavers fell off a cargo ship in the Pacific Ocean from the US to Hong Kong.  Scientists have mapped the locations of where the toys have washed up or appeared in various places and have used the data to improve their understanding of the ocean currents.
