The last few days have been a whirlwind, partly driven, believe it or not, by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
A few weeks ago, I sent out a new resume to the usual headhunters to test the market. Let’s just say, I’ve been quite surprised by the number of hits and the increase in value of my skills.
Moving higher into the six figures category is always a plus. I got my last paycheck with the new numbers and let’s just say that things are really looking up for these next couple of decades I can work.
This next week means there are some decisions to be made. It’s good to be in this position again. I used to have those kinds of options before 8 years of Obama watched those opportunities dry up.
Mostly, the problem has been that the wages offered were not much of increase and neither were the benefits. I have a very good work arrangement and so making me come out of it would require a significant increase to cover new expenses.
Companies are hiring again and offering more money. On two of the interviews, I asked why they are looking now, and both said they see expansion from the recent tax code changes. Imagine that.
What’s more interesting are what my liberal friends are sharing. Many have received bonuses and instant pay raises. Some are getting better offers. And yet, they still hate Trump. The excuses being made are typical dug in echo chamber talking points that run along with the lines of “Are you going to believe me or your lying eyes?”
Blogging will be a little slow over the next couple of weeks as I am going over new opportunities. In the meantime, I’ll have a few posts cued up tonight.
