Huh.

Governing is hard.

The 2020 version of the 1960’s hippies have formed a commune inside the liberal run city of Seattle. They want to build a society free from oppression, police, white privilege, capitalism and systemic racism. Like any new society, laws and rules must be established and agreed upon by the constituents so that everyone knows what is expected of them and their rulers.

Until then, citizens, like the guy above, assume the risk of a lawless enclave. His possessions are not his and he has no redress. Every person for themselves so long as they check their racism, white privilege, and corporate thinking at the border.

One thing I will note is that during the Occupy Wall Street shenanigans that took place back during the beginning of Obama’s term, there were many reports of stealing and rape in the encampments, especially against teenagers. There have been reports of rapes, burglaries, and other violations of US law that apparently don’t apply to these folks. For them, it’s important to have social justice principles that lift up disadvantaged people, which means your expectation of individual rights are not acceptable.

At some point, the citizens will become tired of the experiment and demand it come to an end. It’ll be … interesting… to see how that plays out.

  1. Is it wrong that I laugh when I see that? And laughed when the other guy got mad over his “unplanned donation” of his money, supplies, and Mac Book?
