A friend of mine offered me some advice. He noticed I was putting in a lot of hours and was certain I was getting close to burnout. I never let on how I feel, but I had to agree with him that the aggressive timelines are not sustainable from a mental state.
“I’m sure everyone you work with will understand if you need some time off. You should take it before you reach a point where you’ll struggle. I think you’ll find they will be very supportive.”
When I mentioned it to the several customers I work for, all agreed I needed to take some time for myself. So I let them all know I was taking a couple of days off this week and ensured they have sufficient backup in case of an emergency.
My general practice when I take time off is to turn off all work computers and devices. I’m looking forward to a few days of relaxing to recharge. I expect to make a few more blog posts over the next couple of days.
May you all have a wonderful week ahead.
Pardon the accurate application, but; be well.
