Chuck Schumer has a competitor for flip-flopping.

Back in 2013, Representative Ted Lieu from California tweeted:

Translation: “If you’re going to strike, at least take out the regime!”

After Trump authorized a military strike against Syria for its continued use of chemical weapons, it seems Lieu had a change of heart.

Ted Lieu’s understanding of the Constitution and existing law is as limited as his ability to rehabilitate his past statements.

House Speaker Paul Ryan had a different take:

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Thursday that President Trump has broad authority to attack Syria, precluding the need for Congress to act beforehand.

“The existing AUMF gives him the authority he needs to do what he may or may not do,” Ryan said during a press briefing in the Capitol.
