Things you learn from the Speaker of the House.
Nancy Pelosi admitted a few weeks prior that she was not a lawyer. She also claimed she was a medical professional but she might have also been drunk. Her remarks in the clip are a clear demonstration she certainly isn’t. IANAL, but I can tell she received very bad advice from liberal colleagues who are former lawyers.
The hubris she exhibits is remarkable; she believes she has the power to declare the acquittal of President Trump invalid because the Senate failed to follow the process she wanted. The democrats bumbled the impeachment from the beginning and the only way for her to save face is to attack the very process she wants to use to remove the President.
The irony here is that one of the Democrats’ talking points is that the evidence and facts are uncontested, so his legal team attacked the process. They also declared that Trump had to be removed because he would rig the process using foreign influence and destroy democracy to win re-election.
In other words, unless the Senate brings witnesses and subpoenas documents, it’s not fair trial and the results don’t matter. I don’t know about anyone else, but it’s clear that the Constitution doesn’t mention that the Speaker of the House has any authority to rule on the legitimacy of the verdict in impeachment process. . But there she is doing exactly that.
It’s like the left enjoys pointage, laughing and mockery directed at them. And they have her to blame.
To borrow an AoSHQ line: the shame is part of the kink.
