Pizza doesn’t pay the bills. A compliment doesn’t increase the retirement account. These are a bunch of academics coming up with study results to give to employers so that the employers can justify not giving raises. Being appreciated makes my attitude at work better, but getting my paycheck is why I even bother to get up and go to work in the first place. It doesn’t matter what my job satisfaction is if I’m not actually at my job doing it.
Remember, these are academics – the same people who produce study results about diets and health, climate change, and gender studies, which time and time again are shown to be completely wrong, and either fabricated or designed to produce the desired results.
