I embellished a bit, true, but it was more for entertainment simply because they prefaced it with urinating overboard. Obviously, you don’t need to do that to fall overboard and drown, but as someone who has practiced safe urination over the sides of boats for years, I completely understand how it happens.
Safety tip #7 would seem to imply that more than a few of that statistic drowned whilst practicing unsafe urination.
Never stand up in your small powerboat, canoe or other similar watercraft.
Numerous drownings occur when fishermen stand up to urinate over the side of a boat.
