When Columbus discovered the “America’s”, it was already inhabited by 90 million natives and represented a third of the world’s population.
That link doesn’t say anything that I could find about there being 90M natives. I tend to doubt that due to the caloric needs of that many people. Given no large scale at the time (there was some, I know, but hardly on the needed scale) and the lack of herded animals I find it difficult to believe 90M could be kept fed. Just saying. I’m no expert.
