More than once, from what i recall, though another arena was used more for these spectacles. That one is now the Piazza Navona.
If you go to the Basilica di San Clemente and go all the way to the bottom floor, you’ll be in a Caesar-era apartment building. In one corner is a gushing spring that was supposedly one of those that was used to flood the Coliseum.
