In 1961, a young girl wrote a letter to President John F. Kennedy urging the President to stop the Russians from bombing the North Pole so as not to kill Santa Claus.  President Kennedy wrote back letting her know he spoke to Santa and he was fine.  Kennedy said Santa would be making his rounds on Christmas as scheduled.
